22/11/08 - Paul Bristow Selected As Parliamentary Spokesman for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland

The Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland Conservatives have selected Paul Bristow as their candidate for the next general election.

The seat is one of the Conservatives' top targets in the North East.

York-born Paul was chosen by party members after an extensive search. He has long-standing connections with the area, and his grandmother was born and bred at South Bank.

Speaking after his selection, Paul said:

"I am thrilled to have been chosen to fight this crucial seat and am looking forward to the months of campaigning ahead. I'm going to hit the ground running, focussing on the economy, on jobs, on crime, health and education.

"Teesside has great potential and the Conservatives have plenty of positive things to say about making life better in our part of the country. "Labour takes support in Teesside for granted - but they ignore what local people are saying at their peril. I shall be listening, leading and taking action. I am 100% committed to serving our area.''
