The countryside is under threat. An enormous 1,900-acre solar farm, bigger than Gatwick Airport is being proposed on some of the most fertile farmland in the country. This isn’t just a few solar panels; it’s an industrial-scale project that would take away land needed for food production and forever change the landscape of Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.
The opposition to this plan is unprecedented. Local councillors, Ben Obese-Jecty MP, Richard Fuller MP, Bedford Mayor Tom Wootton, and countless local residents are standing together to fight this reckless proposal.
Why does this matter?
- 74% of the land is the highest quality agricultural land.
- This would industrialise our countryside, setting a dangerous precedent.
- We should be championing rooftop solar and using brownfield sites instead of sacrificing farmland.
We must act now to protect our countryside! Say NO to turning our best farmland into an industrial solar site.
